It’s great news that Sergio Garcia is back into the top 10 of the Official World Golf Rankings for the first time in four years after his win at the the Qatar Masters. Garcia’s dramatic play-off win over Mikko Ilonen in Doha saw him jump two spots to No. 9, his highest placement since he was eight in the world in November 2009. Sergio is still seeking his first major win and he was as high as No.2 in the world when he won the WGC-HSBC Champions event in 2008. Sergio has always been a great player and over his career he has spent a combined 318 weeks in the world’s top 10.
Garcia’s who is now playing Taylormade golf clubs, including the new Taylormade SLRD Slider Driver, has had exceptional success and his record over his career is exceptional with the exception of that elusive major win. He has won 11 European Tour and has 18 top 10’s in 61 career majors. Recently he has been down to as low as 85th in the world but now he is back where he belongs and now lies 3rd on the world points list for the European Ryder Cup team after his victory and is second in the Race to Dubai.
